What we did when Grandma came to town

Here is a slide show of pictures from when Grandma Irene came to visit and we went to the Kitsap County Fair and the Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium. I will post more about the actual events but here are pics to enjoy in the meantime.

August is almost gone...

... and I have so much to post about. I am not going to do it now but I will leave you with a teaser. My Grandma Irene came to visit, we did a LOT. I have pictures. I redid the girls room to incorporate all their stuff since they are sharing... I have pictures. Derek has worked the last 11 days and has one more to go... I am tired. Brianna turned 4 months old, went to the doctor, is teething, has thrush and cradle cap. Audrey has a cold. I don't have pictures of that. :) I promise to update soon.

Wow, I am busy... are you?

So there is a lot going on right now. My grandma is in town visiting with us for a week from Illinois. Because of that we are going going going. I have two appointments this week in the middle of all of it (one being Brianna's four month appointment, yeah I know, four months) and I can NOT seem to keep my house even remotely as clean as I would like it. So I will proceed to try to catch you up on all the things that have happened so far. Last week was HELL week weather wise. It was very hot and humid. I felt like I was in Florida, which only made me miss my family down there even more since we are unable to afford a visit this year.... but that's a subject for another time. So to beat the heat one day we went down to the Harbor Fountain Park. The Schneider's came with us. It was a good time and a great way to beat the heat... ahhh, what I wouldn't give for some central air.

Then on Saturday, with its record heat in the 90's (yeah I am aware that I am a wuss), we decided to take a family day and go to the International Fountain at the Seattle Center. For those of you not from here the International Fountain is this huge dome in the middle of a concrete "crater" that shoots out TONS of water and is designed to be played in. It is a great way to cool off. And I really didn't realize how much water came out of it. Audrey had a BLAST!!! I cannot tell you how much she loved it. She would stand there and just let the water pelt her on the head. Then we had ice cream at the Center House and rode the carousel. It was a great day. She was well behaved and we had a fun time. Here are some pics from it all in a slideshow:

Monday morning we picked up my grandma from the airport and apparently Washington State decided to live up to its reputation. It hasn't gotten above 70 since Sunday night and it has been raining most of the day today. I am disappointed only because Grandma is here and we have plans to do things that require us going outside. So if you are the praying kind, pray that at least the rain stops! Lastly, Brianna will be four months old this week. *sigh* It is all happening so fast. I think she might be teething, more on that after we see the doctor on Friday. She is still a great baby though. She rolled over on Sunday for the first time. It was AWESOME! She is grabbing for things and still working on sitting up. Here she is in her bumbo:

Here is a video of her rolling over:

Awesome Chicken Tacos

So I just had to brag about this awesome dinner that we had a couple of nights ago. It was chicken tacos but we made it differently than usual. We took one pound of chicken, one jar of your favorite salsa and four cloves of garlic. We cooked all of that together. Put it on tortillas with shredded cheese and a little sour cream. Yum yum yum!!!! I am having left overs as we speak. Back to my dinner!

Over a week

I just realized that I haven't posted on here in over a week. I have no excuse for it and can't figure out what happened. Anyway..... Not much has been going on here. Just busy ... well, living. Not really much else besides that. We had some people over Friday night just for a hang out night and then spent the rest of the weekend... just being. We went to a welcome home party for Bekah, who just came back from her Africa Missions trip last week. Sunday was church. We are going to this new Sunday School called Divorce-proofing your marriage. It is really interesting and a good group of people. Then our friends, the Arnold's, came up from Oregon for a few days. We spent a lot of time with them Monday night and again today. It was really nice to see them. They also have 2 little girls and are expecting baby number three in February. We haven't seen them since May so it was a good time of catching up. Tonight was Derek's first softball game for the coed league he is in. They lost in extra innings but he is just happy to be playing again. Well, I feel like this was really choppy but I will blog more tomorrow, I promise. I'll even throw in a few new pics of the girls. Well, I have to go to bed now as it is about to hit midnight and I am exhausted. Later!

August Rush....

Well August is here. The summer is FLYING by. Probably because it didn't start to feel like summer until the end of June. Anyway, we have a lot going on this month and I am sure that it will fly by just as fast as July did. Right now the big news is potty training. We are FINALLY having some success. We decided to go cold turkey to panties because the pull-ups were too similar to diapers. Audrey is now going on the potty several times a day. She has even pooped in the potty twice. She now recognizes the urge to go potty. However, she still is working on how to get it to come out once she sits down and on recognizing that not every little twinge needs to be met with a trip to the potty. Between those two issues she makes about 50 trips to the potty in one day, no exaggeration. So sometimes she goes and sometimes not. She isn't having a lot of accidents but it is a frustrating process. I don't think she was quite ready but I think we have made too much success to back down now, plus she won't let us. Every morning she asks for her panties and she is the one requesting to go to the potty all the time so we definitely have made progress. So that's nothing to sneeze at.

In other news, Brianna is doing just great. She is sleeping about 10-11 hours at night and that is fantastic. She is laughing and smiling most of the time. She still only gets upset when she is hungry or tired. I think that she is going to be an active kid like Audrey. She kick kick kicks when she is laying down and desperately wants to sit up. We just bought her a bumbo off of craigslist and it is great. She is a little young for it but she loves it. She is still a great baby. This is what it looks like except it is mint green.
As for the rest of the month: Our close friends, the Schneiders, just moved in two doors down so we have been busy helping them move and unpack. It is really nice to finally have them close and to have them just down the street. Derek's sister, Nicole, was in town this weekend so we had a nice family meal yesterday. Rebekah comes back from her two week mission trip to Africa tomorrow. We are all excited for her but I know that she will be bummed to be home because that is always how I felt after a missions trip. It is quite a high to come down from. This weekend we have a welcome home party for her. Once a week I take the girls to a free family movie at our local theater. We are excited for Grandma Irene's visit in two weeks and we will be going to visit the zoo when she comes. Also this month we have Brianna's four month appointment at the end of the month and are anxious to see how much she has grown. Well, I think that is all for now. I will be sure to post more soon and to include a picture of Brianna in her bumbo... she looks sooooo cute.
