In our circle of friends and family Audrey is notorious for being a messy eater. It's not that she can't use her fork and spoon, because she can, she just chooses not to. It is easier and more fun for her to eat with her hands. Last night at the Martin's we had a great spaghetti dinner, which Audrey calls Spagegy. The following video is what ensued:

And all that jazz...

Well, Brianna had her 2 month appointment yesterday. She is doing well. She is now 10 pounds, 1 ounce (a 2.5 lb gain from birth) and she is 22.5 inches long ( a 2.5 inch gain from birth). She is only in the 25% for weight but Audrey was like that too until she hit about 18 months. The good thing is that she is growing steady and that's what is important. She is hitting all of her developmental milestones and even smiled at the doctor. She did have to get 3 shots and an oral vaccine so yesterday was a long day for mommy but it is all par for the course. In other news, Derek passed his test! That's always good. Not much else going on here. I am going to a women's conference this weekend (Women of Faith) with my mom and I am very excited. It is all day Friday and all day Saturday in Seattle. So Brianna and I are going and Audrey will get two full days of daddy-time which she will LOVE. Hopefully the weather will be nice and they can get out and do something. Well, I hear the littlest one stirring so I am going to go and feed her. I will update about the conference when I get back. Ciao!

Crap Certification Test

At the end of each year of schooling Derek has to take a cumulative hands-on test called the Craft Certification Test. His fellow colleagues and he like to call it the CRAP certification test, I can't quite remember why. Anyway, Derek's test is tomorrow. It is from 7:30-4:00. He has to make up a transformer which he has never done before. He is confident that he will do just fine but we aren't sure what happens if you don't pass. Plus, he has to miss a whole days work to take this test, which really sucks because we won't get paid for it. So if you think of him tomorrow please pray that he can remember everything.

Summer is here....

Well yesterday was the official beginning of summer. It was a great weekend too. My friend Heidi turned 24 this weekend and came into town for a visit. She came over to my house for a couple of hours on Friday and we got to just hang out and talk just the two of us (well, plus my two girls but Audrey went down for a nap about half way through the visit) and it was just like old times. I didn't realize how much I had missed her. We also got to hang out with her and Josh, her husband, and other friends of ours Friday evening at a local park. It was a beautiful day out and Audrey had literally been begging me to let her go out and play. She is definitely in her element outdoors and loves to run and play.

Saturday we went to a farmer's market in Port Orchard. It is right on the waterfront which Audrey loved because she loves to look at the ocean. She says that she can see blue whales every time she sees the sound, even though there aren't any in the sound. She is a big animal aficionado. There was a neat little playground down there and we let Audrey play for a little while, while Derek and I ate organic cherries and apriums (no you didn't read that wrong - it is a hybrid fruit of an apricot and a plum). Then that afternoon we went over to Heidi's parents house for a birthday celebration for Heidi. There was wiffle ball and lots of wide open area for Audrey to run with very little for her to get into or get hurt by. That makes a mommy very happy. After that there was Taco Del Mar (yum!) and hanging out at the Martins house. It was another beautiful day.

Today we just had church and now we are just spending a quiet day at home as a family after the busyness of the weekend. Here are some pictures for your viewing enjoyment:

2 months old

Our baby is now 2 months old. To mark the occasion she decided to laugh for the first time today. It was so sweet. It was a real little girl laugh. Unfortunately, only I have heard it. But shortly, I hope, she will be doing it often. Here is a picture of our big 2 month old:

New, sorta, car

Well, we did it. The Ford Crown Victoria, or the Tank as I "lovingly" referred to it as, is gone. *angels sing* We were able to trade it in at a local used car dealership for a Toyota Camry. The Camry is older but it will get good gas mileage, has a CD player and the interior is in good shape. Derek is waiting to drive it to work until his transponder comes in for the toll on the Narrows Bridge. Once that happens, hopefully soon, I will get to drive the Suzuki around and he will get to rack up miles on the Camry. We are both excited.

So here is a picture of our "new" car:

So we have a few things to be thankful for. First of all our friends got the duplex next door. So that means in just a few weeks they will be our neighbors. YEE HAW!! Plus, I might be watching their daughter in the fall when Delayna goes to work so it will be really convenient to have them next door. Another thing to be thankful for is that Derek is no longer working 10's. *heavenly chorus rings out* After more than a month of working 10's and getting home late he is now only working eight hours a day and home by 4:30 at the latest. The money was nice but we are really glad to have him home.
Lastly, if you are the praying kind, pray for us because tomorrow we are going to go and trade in the Ford for a better, hopefully, car. We need something that gets at least decent gas mileage but preferably good gas mileage so Derek can use it for work and I can have the Suzuki. But something that gets at least decent mileage and runs well and has a good interior is all I am asking for... oh yeah, and is in our price range. We are going to trade in the Ford so pray we get a decent trade in on it. Well, hopefully tomorrow evening I can get on with a picture of our new car!!! :)

Eight O'Clock Dinner Anyone?

So last night we took my father-in-law to dinner at Famous Dave's. It is fairly new in our area only opening a few months ago. We decided to go on a Monday night because we thought it would be a good time to go when it wouldn't be so crazy, plus Derek had to work 10 hours so we couldn't meet up until 6:45. Boy were we WRONG! Not only did we have to wait 35 minutes to get a table we had to wait at least that long if not longer to get our food. The first couple of times we went there our food was out to us within fifteen minutes of ordering. I couldn't believe how long it took. Plus we had Ms. Antsy Pants with us (Audrey) who doesn't like to sit still and is 2, no further explanation necessary, and she didn't get dinner until 8 o'clock. It was really good food and went really fast once we got it but man alive did we have a long wait. They SO need to get call ahead seating..... I have asked every time we go and they don't have it and don't know why they don't. Ugh!

Father's day weekend = busy busy

Well we had a busy weekend. The Schneiders came into town because they are looking into getting into the duplex next door to us. Derek had to work on Saturday :( but Delayna and I went garage sale shopping. I got a few things but she made out like a bandit in the clothes department. Then they went and looked at the apartment. I think they will get it but I am trying not to get my hopes up in case they don't. Then we all went to Daryl's surprise 30th birthday party. It was pretty fun. There were a lot of people and a LOT of food. My sister-in-law had a good time putting it all together and it was great to see so much family all in one place. We even got to see Derek's aunt and uncle who hadn't seen the baby yet.

Here's a pic of some of the kids in Dave's car:

Then Sunday was Father's Day. I got up and made Derek a breakfast burrito with egg, bacon, onion and cheese. He said he liked it. I made pancakes for me and Audrey. Then we had to be at church by 10:30 because we were doing Brianna's baby dedication. That went really well. My mom, Kenny, Bekah, Nicole, Dave and Lynnette were all there. It was really special because we were the only ones doing it. Brianna was great. She didn't make a peep the whole time we were up there. We had to bribe Audrey with a sucker to come up with us but she did and she was great too. Even though she decided to break out in a rendition of Baa Baa Black Sheep during Pastor Terry's prayer for Brianna.

We then went over to my mom's for a BBQ. It was really good. The Schneiders came too and the girls had a lot of fun playing together. Tomorrow we are taking Dave out to dinner for Father's Day. That should be fun. So anyway I think the title sums up our weekend!!

She's baaacckk

The racoon has decided that any time of day is a good time for a swim and a drink. She comes even in broad daylight and plays/drinks in Audrey's pool. And she is big. We have since dumped out the pool, we'll see what happens.

I can't believe it has been almost a week since I blogged. I have had a busy busy week. There have been doctor appointments and errands galore this week. I can't believe it is almost Friday. Anyway, not much has been going on in the last week. We got our stimulus check on Monday, WOO HOO!!! We have paid a lot of bills with it, not so woo hoo. But we are planning to use most of it to help us get a better car to replace the Ford. So please pray that we can find something that is fairly gas efficient for either Derek or I to use. The Ford is only getting around 15 mpg and makes me not want to drive it ANYWHERE! There isn't much else going on here. We are mourning the lack of summer, with highs in the mid-60's on a good day the last couple of weeks we are seriously starting to get agitated by the lack of vitamin D and outside time. We had a raccoon visit us last night on our back porch and I about wet myself. I don't know what is going on but suddenly all the wildlife in West Bremerton have decided they are going to congregate on our back porch... I am not a fan. Also, he didn't want to leave. We yelled at him and pounded on the glass door that his nose was pushed up against and he just looked at us... *sigh* I don't know what is going on. Well, fourth of July is in just a few weeks and to gear up I bought Derek and the girls some patriotic wear, flag shirts for Derek and Audrey and this shirt for Brianna...

We have been watching So You Think You Can Dance, Audrey does think she can dance and tries really hard... Here is a video of her dancing:

We have a busy weekend coming up. Friends of ours are coming into town and we are excited to hang out with them. We also have Brianna's baby dedication at church on Sunday, where we will see a lot of family, and that is also Father's day. We have a BBQ at my mom's house and dinner on Monday with Derek's dad. Whew, I hope I can keep up. I will post more often, I promise. Plus many more pics of the girls to come. Audrey has decided that she doesn't want to pose for pictures so I am not getting a lot of her right now but as a closing here are side by side comparisons of the girls at approximately the same age:

Brianna Smiles

Well our little punkin is almost 7 weeks old and has been smiling for about 2 weeks. I finally got a good shot of her beautiful smile on camera. Here it is:

Thursday, June 5, 2008

So Audrey woke up this morning at eight o'clock. Coincidentally Brianna woke up at the same time wanting to eat. I decided to be such a nice mommy and let Audrey watch Veggie Tales in my bedroom while I fed the baby. Well, apparently Audrey didn't wake up but a monster who looked a lot like Audrey did. Not only was I not lauded as a wonderful mommy for letting her sit in my bed and watch a movie she actually pitched a fit. Then in the first hour of her being awake she melted down 4 times. *sigh* Then, despite all that, I decided I would go out of my way and make her pancakes for breakfast. Well that wasn't appreciated either. All she wanted was fruit snacks for breakfast, which she isn't allowed to have. So more fit-pitching. Needless to say, it is going to be a long day. She eventually (at 10 o'clock) deemed my pancakes good enough to eat and ate 3 of them. She was probably starving and that's why. Oh well.... such is the life of a mom. As I sit here writing this Brianna is crying and Audrey is yelling at me for something that I am ignoring until she asks me nicely. I'm wondering how long that will take to happen. All the while I am praying for patience and thanking GOD for my blessings. Gotta go!

Now I am not exactly a hot weather kind of girl. Mid-70's and a slight breeze is my idea of the perfect summer weather. However, I think it is a crime that it is the fourth of June and I just had to kick on my heat because it was a little chilly in my house. UGH!

6 weeks

Here we are six weeks later... time has FLOWN! Brianna is starting to look more and more like a baby and less like a newborn. She is smiling now, although I have yet to get a good shot on camera. She is holding her head up well and still sleeping like a champ! Audrey is still smitten with her. She is having some adjustment issues between the baby, Derek's long hours that started the week after the baby was born and just being two. Luckily she doesn't connect them with the coming of the baby and proudly announces to one and all " That's my sister!", even to Derek. It is really cute. Hopefully she will be returning to normal in the next few weeks as things start to seem normal and routine. Anyway, here is another picture of our new addition:
