Bye bye 2008

Well 2008 will officially come to a close tonight. It is surreal to me because it has gone by SO quickly. Last year this time I was about 22 weeks pregnant with Brianna. We were anticipating Audrey's second birthday and wondering how life would change with the birth of our second daughter. I couldn't imagine what it would be like and now I don't really remember what it was like before. It has been a good year. I will close out the year with a slideshow of Christmas festivities. Enjoy! And Happy New Year!

Christmas time is.... over :(

Well Christmas is over. It was a good time. The girls made out like bandits and we didn't do too badly either. We ended up going to Derek's grandparent's house for dinner yesterday after the snow/slush made Derek's brother get stuck in a ditch on the way up the hill to his mom's house. It was fun to see family and eat a TON of good food. Audrey and Doc were so funny together. Every time she would come near him he would get so excited. It was too cute. Needless to say both Audrey and Brianna were exhausted last night. Today we plan on going out and hitting some of the after Christmas sales. Hopefully it won't be TOO crazy. Wish us luck!

Merry Christmas!

I hope everyone has a great day today! We had Christmas Eve with my family last night. It was a great time. The Schneiders came over with us and the girls had a blast playing and eating. We had Kenny's famous chili and opened tons of presents for the girls. They spoiled them rotten this year. Today we are going to have our Christmas.. then we have breakfast at Derek's dad's house and then it is off to his mom's for dinner. Hopefully we can make it up the road. Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas Eve Eve

So I have received, what I think, is the best Christmas present EVER! Audrey is a rock star potty training. She hasn't had an accident in two days. She is only in diapers/pull-up at night, not even at naptime. She is a pooping and peeing machine. She is very proud of herself. She filled up one potty chart last Friday night and we made a longer chart that she just filled up this afternoon. We even went out to finish Christmas shopping in panties last night. We were gone for 3 hours and she was dry! We are very proud of her and pleased at how easily this has gone considering the long wait for it to happen. Hallelujah! This is truly the only thing I wanted for Christmas... although the rest of the presents I will receive will be just a welcome. :)

Eight months ago today...

... Brianna was born. Yep, she is already eight months old. AND!!! Audrey will be three, three weeks from today. I can't believe how fast it is going. Anyway... Brianna is now about sixteen and a half pounds, not sure how long she is. I will have to measure when she wakes up. She has 2 teeth, which I suspect are going to be joined by more in the coming weeks. She is a crawling machine!! She gets around quite quickly and feels that anything that comes across her path MUST go in her mouth, including leaves from outside. Yummy! She is pulling herself up now and babbling all the time. We had to lower her crib because of her pulling up and now she looks like she is in baby prison when we go to get her out of her crib, but she is safe now. She is eating three meals a day most days now in addition to nursing but she is still a peanut. Plus, she is the cutest thing on the planet! Here are a few pics:

More and more and more snow

So Thursday we got hit with, what we thought, was a ton of snow. Boy were we wrong. It has been snowing since 2 pm yesterday and is still going strong. I don't know exactly how much but we have at least a foot, if not more. That is the most snow I have seen at once in a LONG time. The downside? It pretty much keeps us housebound with Christmas stuff still to do. The upside? It is beautiful to look at and fun to play in for a little while. Here are a couple of pics from today's romp in the snow:

Audrey all bundled up for the snow.

This is the way Brianna enjoyed our winter wonderland today.

We also made Christmas cookies yesterday for our family gatherings this week. We are going to frost most of them on Wednesday but we did a few yesterday so that Audrey could practice, and eat, her frosting skills.

Audrey frosting...

...putting on sprinkles...

The final product... not bad for a first time.

Potty training update...

Well, we're on a roll. We're on day 5 of our, hopefully, last attempt at potty training. She has been going on the potty and even went accident free a couple of days. She is still in pull-ups to sleep and go out but we will be slowly weaning off of that. She isn't freaking out about it anymore and it looks like this time it is going to stick. Hallelujah. This is the best Christmas present ever!

Let it snow, Let it snow.... let it stop!

So yesterday we finally got hit with the snow they have been threatening us with since last Friday. It came down so much that Derek ended up staying home from work. It was nice for him to have a day off. Because of the weather we didn't go anywhere but that is when it is the nicest to have friends next door. We spent a lot of time with the Schneiders yesterday. We played in the snow, had lunch and played the Wii together. The girls had a blast in the snow... Brianna, not so much. We went out while it was still snowing and she did NOT like the snowflakes hitting her face. Needless to say, she didn't last too long. Audrey and Eva, and the daddies, had a good time sledding around our neighborhood though and Audrey slept REALLY well last night. Now if it would just all melt and warm up enough so that it doesn't refreeze, I would be appreciative. Derek got to go to work today but he took the ferry instead of driving to be safe.
Here are some pics and a video of our snow day... ENJOY!

In case you're wondering that is the middle of the street near our house and that is my laundry basket Audrey is sitting in.

On the second day of Christmas my true love gave to me...

So in the on-going saga of illness in our house, Brianna now has an ear infection. Friday night she was up SO many times and was obviously uncomfortable. She didn't have a fever so I didn't suspect anything, other than possibly more teeth, until she started tugging on her left ear. So I took her to the pediatrician on Saturday morning and sure enough, ear infection. She is sleeping through the night again with the help of amoxicillin and infant Tylenol. Other than that everyone is doing well. Derek's cold is about 90% better, still coughing a bit. My cold/ear infection is 95% better but I still have some congestion and stuffiness in my ears. Audrey is 99.99% better. She still has a mark on her bottom that looks like a bruise from where the infection was, but overall she is fine.

In other news, we took Audrey to Zoolights at the Point Defiance Zoo on Saturday. She had a great time. It was freezing but at least the snow held off until we were headed out already anyway. The lights were beautiful and she got to ride the carousel. We left Brianna with my mom because she was crabby from being sick and it was so cold we didn't think she would enjoy it anyway. We had a really good time.

Lastly, Brianna is going to be 8 months old on Sunday. That's crazy to me. She is about 16.5 pounds now. She loves food. She is crawling ALL over and has started pulling herself up in the last couple of days. As for Audrey, she will be three in less than a month. That's also very crazy to me. She is a great kid. She loves Brianna and is a big help to me. We are working on potty training in, what we hope, is our last attempt. This time we are determined to make it work. Pray for us. :) Well other than having below freezing temps around the clock right now not much else is going on. If you think about it pray for Derek's safety as he commutes in this weather.

Pictures, colds and more teeth?

Well pictures went really well on Monday. The photographer was REALLY animated and I think it was a little too much for B in addition to her cold so she wasn't quite as smiley as usual but she did well. She did crawl away a few times, I tried to warn the photographer but I don't think she believed me until it started happening. Brianna is doing ok. She is still a little congested but I think her real problem might be more teeth. She was up A LOT last night and was in obvious discomfort. I could tell she wanted to sleep but something kept waking her up. So at 3 am I gave her Tylenol and she slept about 5 hours after that. Then she just woke up a little while ago from a 3 hour nap. I think it means more teeth are on the way. Unfortunately with the appearance of the bottom ones I can't find out because she bites me if I try to rub her top gums to find out. I'll know eventually I guess. We are all on the mend here. I almost have all of my hearing back from my ear being clogged due to my ear infection. Derek's eye is better and his cold is going away... albeit very slowly. My cold is pretty much gone as well. Audrey's MRSA is 95% better. She is still on antibiotics for a day or two more and then she will be done. She has what looks like a bruise where the infection was. However, she is no longer in pain and is hasn't drained or anything in almost 3 days. Things are finally turning a corner. Now if we can just all stay healthy, that would be wonderful. Well, I think that is it for now. This weekend we are going to Zoolights. It should be fun. Pray for NO SNOW!!!!

Another one bites the dust

Well, Audrey is doing much better. *Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers* Her antibiotics are working and she is about 85% healed. But the best part is that she is no longer in pain. Derek's cold is s-l-o-w-l-y getting better but it is getting better and my ear infection is getting better too. BUT!!! Brianna started to get snotty last night and woke up completely congested this morning..... Ah well, it was pretty much inevitable with all of us sick. So hopefully it won't make her too miserable. Well, I gotta go get the girls ready for Christmas pictures. Even though Brianna is sick I figure I better get them done because I have already rescheduled twice. If I wait for them to both be well, it might never happen. Wish me luck!

It's December....

Well Christmas season is here and it has been one LONG week since my birthday. Last week before Thanksgiving Derek and I both started to get colds. Stuffiness and coughing were a nice addition to our holiday... not. Anyway, so we tried to push through and enjoy ourselves. And we did. We had a great weekend.
Then Monday came.......
A little background, Audrey had broken out with some acne on her bottom the week of Thanksgiving, or what we thought was acne. Turns out it was a staff infection. While it had started to heal and we were thankful for that, a few of the pimples got infected. Three, to be exact. Well by Sunday, two of the three were almost gone and the third..... well, it was bad. By Sunday night Audrey had a fever and was in so much pain she was limping and didn't want to sit on her bottom. So Monday morning I took her to the doctors. Well, she has MRSA (You've probably heard about it on the media, it's not as deadly as they make it sound, although it is very serious). So we have spent the whole week tending to the wound that didn't really want to drain for the first day or so. Then on Tuesday night I could tell I was coming down with an ear infection, right as I thought my cold was almost gone. Then Derek came home from work with his eye all irritated. By Wednesday morning it was bad enough that he stayed home from work to go to the doctor - he has pink eye! I went to the doctor Wednesday evening and I have a double ear infection. The only one not sick is the seven month old. So this week has been.... ugh! Pray for us and that we will all be on the mend and soon. Derek still has a really bad cough that keeps him up at night. Pray for him the most. I will post some pictures soon and hopefully the next post will be sunnier :)

Merry Christmas!

Well today was my 26th birthday. It was a busy but good day. I got up at 4:30 am and went shopping with my sister, Rebekah. We shopped for about four hours. Then I came home and Derek went and played flag football, a typical Thanksgiving weekend tradition for him. After that we spent the rest of the afternoon at home. That evening Derek and I went out to dinner with our friends, Heidi and Josh. They live far away and we haven't had a lot of chances to hang out with them in the last ... well, year and so we had a great time chatting and eating. Then they came back over to our place to hang out and watch The Office. It really was a great day. I don't feel twenty-six.... I don't even feel like an adult sometimes. But I have accomplished a lot for 26 years. I have completed college, gotten married, have two beautiful daughters and a wonderful husband. Not much else to ask for.... so Happy Birthday to ME!

Thursday, November 27, 2008

We had a good time for Thanksgiving. We took Audrey to see Bolt in the theaters. She had a good time but Derek and I both have colds so we didn't enjoy ourselves as much as we normally would have. Then we went over to my mom's house for food. It was very good. We ate a TON and I got a couple of birthday presents. We watched Journey to the Center of the Earth. I really enjoyed it and will probably rent it again to watch it more closely. Tomorrow is Black Friday and my birthday... I am very excited. Oh yeah... today I am thankful for: Cold medicine, food, my family and days off for Derek.

Thanksgiving Week - Tuesday Edition

Today I am thankful for sleep. I guess popping those teeth through is what Brianna needed because she has slept through the night the last two nights. I haven't had that in almost a month and I am flying high this morning. I am not really a morning person but waking up at 7:30 to realize that neither one of the girls needed me all night, that's a great way to start the day!!!

Thanksgiving Week - Monday Edition

Today I am thankful for the sunshine. We have had a few days of just beautiful weather and I LOVE it. Today I took the girls to the zoo to enjoy what may possibly be one of the last nice days we can go for a couple of months. So I am thankful for the zoo too. Brianna LOVED the aquarium. I put her up to the glass and she just squawked away at the fish swimming by her face. It was very cute. Audrey, of course, loves the zoo. She told the walruses that they needed a bath today. They really did stink.

On a funny note... Audrey has really started making up songs on her own. It's hilarious at times. Like last night at dinner Audrey was singing "Brianna, yum". It was so funny and Derek and I were racking our brains trying to figure out what commercial it came from and then he remembered, it's a Red Robin commercial. "Red Robin, yum" Audrey is SO funny sometimes.

Thanksgiving Week - Sunday

With this week being Thanksgiving week I have really reflected on how thankful I am. I tend to be a worry wort and therefore sometimes focus on the negative in an effort to "be prepared" for anything that may happen. I have decided that I really don't want to live that way anymore and it's really not how GOD wants me to live either. So I am seeing Thanksgiving week as a jumping off point for Operation Thankful. So today I am thankful of course, as always, for my family. I am thankful for a husband who loves me, flaws and all. I am thankful that he works so hard for our family, long hours, sucky commute, so that I can stay home. I am thankful for all that he sacrifices. I am also thankful for our two beautiful daughters. I am thankful that they are healthy. I am thankful that they are relatively easy children. I am thankful that I can be home with them to experience these early years.

We have a tooth!

Brianna has been particularly crabby the last few days and I suspected teething. However, I did the same thing with Audrey, whenever they were uncharacteristically crabby I would assume it was teething from about three months on. Audrey didn't cut her bottom teeth until a week after she hit nine months. So when I saw the whites of Brianna's teeth just under the surface I was surprised but still didn't expect her to actually cut a tooth... well, here she is, seven months old today, and we have a tooth!!! Hopefully the other one will come in soon as it is right there too and bugging her. I will try to get a picture and post it but she doesn't like me anywhere near her mouth right now. Other than that she is about fifteen and a half pounds and twenty-six inches long. She is petite but growing steadily. She army crawls now and is experimenting with crawling on her hands and knees. She LOVES food and don't you dare eat in front of her and she babbles a lot now. She is really smiley and happy still and so so so much fun to be with. Again, I will post some pictures later, she is sleeping now.... ahhhhh... slleeeepppp....

Focusing on the positive.... or at least trying to

So as Derek as gone to his new job site for the first time today it isn't looking as rosy as we thought yesterday. Although we are still trying to look at the positives. Derek is back with a company that he had toward the beginning of the apprenticeship and was with the longest. However, he was never a big fan of them. But he still has a job. The hours that he is working downtown are not great in conjunction with the ferry schedule so he will get home pretty late - 6:30 if he is lucky. But he can still take the ferry, especially if the weather gets bad. Although he is going to see if he can find someone to carpool with so that he can skip that if possible. But it will still be an option if the weather gets nasty. The last negative is that he is back to working overtime... BOO! So he will be working 9 hours a day M-Th and 8 hours on Friday and Saturday. This really sucks to be quite honest. BUT!! It is the holidays so extra money is always nice, especially since Audrey's birthday is so close to Christmas. The overtime is especially hard coming out of October when Derek only had 3 days off because he worked so much and got home late with overtime as well. However, this job is supposed to end in six weeks so we know it isn't for a LONG time. So if you think of us, pray. Pray that we can be thankful for the job during a time when the economy stinks and many are without jobs. Pray that we will still be able to have adequate time as a family with this new job site and all the overtime. Pray that Derek can find a carpool buddy so that he doesn't have to ride the ferry unless necessary because of the extra commute time. Pray for Derek's energy and stamina during this time of extra overtime since he just did this a few weeks ago. Thanks for praying for us.

New Job Site

So Derek finally got his assignment this morning and he is going to be working in downtown Seattle. We were hoping for a job on the Peninsula but a downtown job is the next best thing. He can ride the ferry and take buses instead of having to drive in nasty weather conditions. Also, if gas prices start to go up again we won't be paying for gas. Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers. Now just pray that he doesn't freeze while waiting for ferry or bus. :)

The Job Saga

For those of you who know we have kind of been in a revolving door about Derek's job site lately. He was working on Snoqualmie Casino until 2 weeks ago when it opened. We prayed, knowing that job was coming to a close, that he would get transferred to a closer job site for the winter. Well, transfer time came and they moved him to Bellevue... BOO! We weren't happy with that at all. We continued to pray and try to have a good attitude because Derek still has a job and it is a good one. So then he was at his job site in Bellevue and they didn't have enough work so they sent him to the apprentice office to get a new assignment. So he went and we will know tomorrow where he will be working. We are disappointed that he wasn't able to stick with the other company that he was working for because they were really good to their employees and they had an awesome Christmas party coming up in December but oh well. We will update tomorrow! Keep your fingers crossed and pray, if you read this before then :)

Halloween Pumpkin

I can't believe that I forgot to show everyone my pumpkin carving I did for Halloween. I don't know how well you can see it from the picture but it is supposed to be Yoda... ENJOY!

Rice anyone?

So Brianna has become quite the food enthusiast as of late. She loves to eat and can't stand it if we eat in front of her and she doesn't have anything to eat. So lately we have been working with her on self-feeding so that she can participate in dinner time with us. She has had Gerber Puffs , which she has been practicing feeding herself and now she has had rice. We were having rice with dinner one night, the white sticky rice, and decided to see what she would do with it if we put some on her high chair tray. The following pictures are what ensued:

It's a little difficult to tell from the pics but she had rice EVERYWHERE! All up and down her arms, all over her face, everywhere. But man did she love it. She is getting so big.

Catching up

Wowza... It has been almost 2 weeks since I posted. I honestly don't know where the time has gone. We have been busy but not with anything super significant. Derek is finally done with over time. YAY!! The bummer is that his new job site is in Bellevue which is not what we were hoping for. At least he is back to a normal work week and we actually get to see him and spend time with him. We had a pretty good Halloween weekend.
Friday night we had a Halloween party with friends. Derek was a fat ballerina and I was a bar wench. We shipped the girls off to grandparents for an overnight, Brianna's first night away. If I hadn't needed a break so badly I would have been more emotional about this. But since Derek only had 3 days off in October and by the 31st he hadn't had one off in 19 days, I wasn't so sad to see them go. I missed them but they both had a good time, especially Audrey. She is starting to get to an age where spending the night at Grandma Nett's (Lynnette's) house is a treat. She talked about it the rest of the weekend.
This week we are just hanging out and trying, as always, to catch up on housework and laundry.... I swear the girls clothes multiply when I go to bed at night. That's all for now. The girls are growing up too fast, as usual. Brianna had a fun time with rice tonight. I will post pictures and tell you all about it tomorrow. For now.... Enjoy:

100th Post!!

Well here I am at 100 posts. That is so wild to me. To celebrate I will fill you in on my SIX MONTH OLD!!! I can't believe it but our little bumble B is already six months old. We went to the doctor for her well baby check up and she is doing wonderfully. She has hit all her milestones and then some. She is sitting on her own most of the time. Every once in a while she still flings herself backwards. She is babbling and cooing and interacting so much. She has already pulled her knees up underneath her a few times and desperately wants to crawl and play with her big sister. Audrey loves her too. She weighs 14lbs 5oz and is 25.75 inches long. She is in the 50% for height and 25% for weight. She is petite but growing steadily so it is fine. Audrey was the same way until about 18 months so it will be interesting to see what happens. Also her hair is growing in really light along with the brown, so we'll see what happens there too. She is still social and love to smile at anyone and everyone. I'll leave you with a picture of Bitty Brianna and Big Brianna. Enjoy!

Corn Maze

We did end up going to the corn maze last Saturday. We had a really good time. We went to Minder Farms and they have a 2.2 mile long corn maze that we did. Auntie Bekah came with us and it was a beautiful day. What a good way to pass the time while Derek worked. Here are some pics:

Single mom-ing it

Well today is Saturday and I once again find myself without a husband. Not only that but usually when he works on Saturday it is just a normal 8 hour day. Not today! He is working 10 hours most likely AND he has to work tomorrow. So I am single mom-ing it for the weekend. It just stinks because he has been working 10 hour days during the week and he worked last Saturday. It is hardest on Audrey but I am exhausted too. Especially since Brianna has adopted 7 am as her new wake up time no matter what time she goes to bed. So I will be trying to find something fun to do. We might go to a corn maze today. Hmm... we'll see.

Pumpkin Patching

Sunday evening we went to the pumpkin patch to pick out our yearly pumpkins. We had a great time. Audrey looked at every single pumpkin available and Brianna was just being... she is so easy. I got some cute pictures. Unfortunately Audrey didn't have her pumpkin shirt on but Brianna was decked out for the experience. Here are some pictures to enjoy of my 33 month old and my almost 6 month old, *sniff sniff*

Wordless Wednesday

So I have an infection. A bad one. It is on my right side and it is not small. What the doctor thinks happened is that I had a small pimple that got popped and then because of where is was, under my bra strap on the right side, it was unable to heal properly and got infected. I agree with him. Friday while cleaning I stratched at an itch under my bra strap on the side and thought I felt something but I didn't think to much of it. By saturday there was a noticeable lump. I figured it was a bad pimple that would eventually come to a head and pop. By Saturday night it was so painful that I couldn't sleep well. I ended up taking IB Profen, A LOT of it, and was able to sort of sleep. Sunday I wasn't feeling well but I figured it was from the lack of sleep the night before. I came home after church ate lunch, helped Derek get the girls in bed for a nap and proceeded to take a three hour nap myself. That is highly unusual for me. Then I felt fine the rest of the night. The area had gotten bigger and more painful but otherwise I felt normal. Well Monday came and I was fine for about the first 3 hours I was up and then I went downhill fast. I started getting flu-like symptoms and just feeling really run down. I went to the walk-in clinic at my doctors office. The doctor told me that because there was no head to the infection yet he didn't feel comfortable trying to drain it because it could lead to more discomfort for me and potentially more infection. So after mentioning to him about half a dozen times that I am nursing so whatever he gave me had to me safe he put me on antibiotics. I have been on them for almost 2 days and I think they are working. I pray that they will do the job because the next antibiotic they would put me on would make it so I couldn't nurse while I was on it. And I don't have 10 days worth of milk stored up. So I am feeling MUCH better today than I have the last couple so I think that I am on the mend. If you think of me say a little prayer.

Finally finished

I have been trying for the better part of a month to get my house cleaned up and organized. Not just straightened up but CLEAN and ORGANIZED. With the introduction of a new family member and all the equipment that entails and the addition of the treadmill some serious rearranging and reorganizing was needed. Unfortunately with 2 little kids in the house and Derek working tons of overtime it was a slow and painstaking process. However, I am happy to report.... IT IS FINISHED!!! :) My house is clean and organized. Now I just have to keep it that way. Plus, I decorated for Halloween. I love this time of year and have to say that this is the fastest that October has ever crept up on me. Usually September is a slow month for me but not this year. I am excited for the holidays because Audrey is really getting into it this year. I am sure I will have a lot to post about in the coming weeks. Including pictures of the girls in their costumes: Winnie the Pooh and Dumbo. :)

So October is here and this year continues to fly by. So much so that I can hardly find time to blog. I finally have my house spotless and in order. It only took me like a month. But it is refreshing and therefore motivating to keep it looking this way. I have also put up my Halloween decorations which Audrey thinks is really "cool". She is going to be a blast this holiday season. We haven't been doing too much because Derek is working an insane amount of overtime because the job site he is at HAS to open on the sixth of November because it is a casino and they have concerts lined up already. So that is hard but good. Luckily he got today off because they didn't have the materials they needed to work today so he gets to be home with us. YAY!

The only big thing lately is that last weekend we took at trip to Oregon to see some good friends of ours who moved there about 2 years ago. They have two little girls and another one on the way. It was a blast. We ate A LOT and had a lot of fun. The weather was beautiful and we got to go to a neat playground that had a fountain that the kids could play in. We also got to go to the Disney Store which was exciting for me since they took the one out of our mall this past winter. We even picked up a Christmas present for Audrey already.

Otherwise not much is going on here. Both of the girls are doing well. Audrey is HUGE! She is 33 pounds and about 38 inches tall. She is growing like a weed. We had to go and get her a whole new winter wardrobe about a month ago because we realized that her 2T stuff wouldn't last until her birthday. Brianna is doing well too. She had a cold a couple of weeks ago that made her wake up in the middle of the night for a few nights. But I am happy to report that she is back to her usual sleeping through the night schedule. She is about 14 pounds now and I have no idea how long she is because she wiggles a lot when I try to measure her but I think she is about 24 inches????? We'll see. She goes back to the doctor towards the end of this month for her 6 month appointment. I can't believe it has almost been six months. It has just flown by. Well, I think that is all the catching up. I will be back soon. Oh and FYI, I am getting close to my 100th post. So I am excited about that! :) It's the simple things.

5 months and still growing...

So it has been more than a week since I last posted. We have done quite a bit. As I mentioned we went to the zoo last Friday the 12th (see slideshow for some pics) and had a great time. We went with our friends, Delayna and Eva. The girls (Audrey and Eva) had a blast but that zoo is on a hill so Delayna and I got quite a workout.

Saturday the 13th was my nephew's first birthday party. That was fun and Audrey had a good time eating only the frosting off of her cake. Unfortunately, bonehead that I am, I don't have any pictures because we got there and I realized I left my memory card at home. Duh! Derek had his last softball game on Tuesday. It was a beautiful day so we went. Unfortunately they lost but they played a really good game.

Then Wednesday we went to the Puyallup Fair (Yet another slideshow :))because all of a sudden I realized it was the last week for it and we didn't want to go on the weekend because of the crowds. And luckily we didn't save it for this last weekend because the weather on Saturday was crappy. We had a good time. Derek was more relaxed because it wasn't crazy crowded. Audrey loved it and wished she could ride more rides, next year. She went on the carousel with Derek and LOVED it. That's always her favorite. Brianna was a star as usual and just chilled in her stroller looking at all the lights. We got home late and the girls were exhausted but it was worth it. We got Brianna's caricature done and it is so cute.

Brianna's Caricature

Brianna is now 5 months old... WOW! She is doing great still. She is eating some baby food now which she absolutely LOVES! She is rolling over both ways and *this close* to sitting. She did it for a few minutes the other day. She isn't independently sitting yet but it won't be long. She laughs easily and loves little kids, especially her big sister. Audrey has already put in a request for more sisters.... we'll see.

Speaking of Audrey, funny story. One day she was running around the house in a pull-up and t-shirt and got a wedgie. She came running up to me and told me that her "heinie is falling out of my body". It was so funny. She says the most hilarious things these days. She is a total big girl. I have lost my toddler. She thinks independently now and comes up with songs and has a CONSTANT running dialogue with her toys when she plays. She really is fun but she is still 2 and that is apparent at some point each day. Pray for the potty training though. It hasn't really happened and I am trying not to get frustrated. Everyone tells me that it will happen quickly once she is ready. Of course it is easy for them to say because every single person who tells me that has a potty trained child already. I am praying that it is true and anxiously awaiting her to be ready entirely. She keeps getting closer but she isn't there yet. *sigh*

As far as my quest for thinness goes, its ok. The exercise thing is hard to get in on some days but I am doing ok. I don't know if the numbers are showing anything because I haven't gotten my scale yet, should be here Wednesday. Keep thinking of me.

Feet feet feet

So just a short post tonight because we went to the zoo today and I am super tired and headed off to bed. However, I couldn't head off without showing off this adorable picture of my youngest with her new obsession: her feet.

It's so cute. She even had her foot in her hand and was sucking her thumb at the same time at one point. Man, I can't believe she is almost five months old. Time flies. I will post more about the fun time at the zoo soon. Ta ta for now!

September 11

So today is September 11, 2008. Seven years have past since that day that the airplanes crashed into the twin towers and the pentagon and changed our country drastically. While it has been long enough that I feel relatively safe again I know that at any second that illusion could be shattered just like it was on that day. I also feel for the families on this day and mourn especially for the children who lost parents for no good reason. Then I begin to think about what I was doing that day. I had graduated from high school just three months prior and was headed off to college in a matter of days. I was sleeping in my room at my parent's house when my mom came in to tell me what had happened. Because of being asleep I didn't comprehend what was going on. My mom told me an airplane had crashed into one of the twin towers in NY. I said OK, and rolled back over. What felt like seconds later, she came back in to tell me that the second tower had been hit as well. Again I rolled over but the news started to sink in. I laid there for about 10 more minutes processing and then I came out to join the world in watching the horror unfold again and again and again on the television screen. Now when the day rolls around each year, while I do reflect on what happened and mourn for the loss of the people and some of our security as a nation, I also reflect on what has happened with me since then. I was 18, going on 19, that day. Now I am almost 26. I have gone to and graduated from college. Gotten married, celebrated 5 years this last July. Been pregnant twice and have had two beautiful daughters. So while I will never forget what happened on that infamous day seven years ago I am going to keep looking to the future and focus on the good and positive things that are happening in my life. And I am going to pray for the future and all the positives and negatives that it holds for us as a family, and also us as a nation.

20 Weeks

Holy cow!!! It just occured to me, just now, that my baby is 20 weeks old today. That's half of a pregnancy. That means she has been out of me half the time she was in me. Oh my, how fast it is going. And it is soooo bittersweet. Just thought I would share my shock and amazement.

The beginning of thin...

I am writing this blog entry with some trepidation because by putting out there what I am about to I am holding myself accountable to a lot of people, hopefully. Plus it is making myself vulnerable and talking about a subject that I NEVER even mention to people normally, my weight.

This weekend Derek and I purchased a treadmill that I found on Craigslist. I have been wanting a treadmill for years because it is one of the few pieces of exercise equipment that works well for me. I don't have to really think about what I am doing and the treadmill's motor prevents me from getting distracted and slowing down. Plus, I have the treadmill to tell me exactly how far I went. Now I have struggled with weight pretty much since I hit puberty. But with the birth of my second daughter I now find myself not fitting into clothes very well even though I am back at my starting weight and have been, although that number isn't really something to brag about either. So even though I am not at an ideal weight, even the weight I was at makes me not fit into my pre-pregnancy clothes very well because everything has shifted and settled differently after this last pregnancy. As we have not decided whether or not there are going to be more children I can't say as to whether or not this might happen to me again. However, if there is another one I would like to be in better shape before getting pregnant again.

So here is my goal. I would like to lose:
Ultimate goal:65 pounds
Minimum before next pregnancy (if there is one): 30 pounds

There it is. Now everyone knows. I am going to start by exercising at least three days a week but I am going to shoot for five. I am not going to eat after eight o'clock at night and I am cutting back on my soda. No longer are we going to bring it in the house. It will be a treat for eating out only. This is going to be the hardest actually and I am determined to do it. I am hoping by making it public I will be less likely to get lazy and rationalize not doing it. Hoping.... I will be posting my successes and failures, although I am hoping there aren't too many faliures. There is a lot of hope and determination in this post.... let's hope :) it stays that way.

Two thirds...

Now that the year is two thirds of the way done I figured I would catch up on a few things that I hadn't posted about yet. First of all we had a hectic August. I got the girls pictures taken at the end of July and got those back the beginning of the month... planning to scan and upload a couple on here soon. We had friends visit from Oregon and my grandma visited from Illinois. We had a lot of fun for the week she was here. We had rain and heat and all sorts of craziness. We went to the fair and the zoo, you can see the pictures on the slideshow on the previous post.

We even went to Seattle for the day on the 16th of the month. It was a really hot day and we thought it would be fun to take Audrey to the Seattle Center to the International Fountain. We were right, she had a BLAST. And because I am beginning to HATE posting pictures on here because of formatting nusances, and because I just discovered Smilebox and LOVE it, here is another slideshow of pictures from our day in Seattle.

Brianna got her 4 month check up on the 22nd. She is doing great. She is 12 pounds, 5 ounces (petite just like Audrey was) and 24 inches long. Audrey is 33 pounds and 36.5 inches tall. Not so petite anymore. Brianna then proceeded to get several vaccines and we spent the rest of the day at home resting from that.

Also, Brianna and Audrey are officially in the same room. Its a little hairy for naptime but nighttime is going great and that is far more important. It took a LOT of rearranging and revamping to get the room to work for both them but we finally got it looking good and I really like it. So here is a short little slideshow of their room too.

The only other thing that has happened has been that Brianna has started eating rice cereal. That is quite a messy venture in and of itself. I am going to try really hard to get back into keeping this up more regularly. I think as fall approaches we will be less busy... but then again maybe not. Stay tuned though. There is lots more to come as my girls continue to grow and grow and I know that if I don't write it all down I am never going to remember what happened and when it happened. Till next time, Ciao!

What we did when Grandma came to town

Here is a slide show of pictures from when Grandma Irene came to visit and we went to the Kitsap County Fair and the Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium. I will post more about the actual events but here are pics to enjoy in the meantime.
